About

An important marketing option for producers that the Western Hog Exchange (W.H.E.) has negotiated on behalf of producers long term "HOG PURCHASE AND DELIVERY CONTRACTS". By signing a formal contract, producers are committing their hog production to be sold to the W.H.E. in accordance with the contract. It is important to note that you can still sell your hogs to the W.H.E. without signing a HOG PURCHASE AND DELIVERY CONTRACT.

Benefits

  1. GRADING
  2. Producers receive the benefit of the "OlyWest" grading grid that rewards better quality animals. If the W.H.E. negotiates improvements to any contract or grading grid you automatically receive the benefit.

  3. BONUSES AND PREMIUMS
  4. Producers receive the additional benefits of health and lean incentives that the W.H.E. has negotiated as add-ons to certain contracts.

  5. PRIORITY STATUS
  6. All W.H.E. CONTRACT holders are given a priority over all other non-contract hogs. Through the W.H.E.'s booking schedule, Contract holders are assured that they will not receive a lower priority than any other non-contract producer. This is especially important in short week situations due to statutory holidays.

  7. FORWARD PRICE CONTRACTS
  8. CONTRACT holders can participate in forward contracting programs offered by W.H.E.

  9. FORWARD PLANNING
  10. CONTRACT holders can make future plans for your operations with confidence that you have a secure market with a regular booking schedule for your hogs.

  11. FLEXIBILITY AND ASSURANCE
  12. CONTRACT holders have the ability to "step up" to any new contract opportunity that is negotiated or developed. This means that you can be assured that you will not be denied any new contract terms or conditions that are offered by the W.H.E.
